Heavy-Duty Designs

Manufacturers continue to introduce attachments and tools designed to offer recyclers new approaches to their work.

Throughout the several steps taken to turn scrap materials into marketable secondary commodities, specialized attachments and tools help recyclers accomplish these tasks efficiently.

A combination of grapples, shears and hybrid attachments help recyclers gather and process in the field (at auto salvage yards and demolition sites, for instance); stage material and move it at the scrap yard; and then process it further and load it for outbound shipment.

Operations managers and yard personnel likely have their “old favorites,” or hydraulic attachments they have come to rely on and use regularly.

What may be just as important to be aware of is the steady stream of new products offered by equipment manufacturers. The manufacturing companies introducing new products typically work closely with their scrap recycler customers—collecting feedback and constructive criticism that will help them design the next generation of their product line.

This article contains information of the type that appears in Recycling Today’s Product Spotlight department, found in this issue on page 108.

This short list of products is by no means comprehensive. A vast amount of information on the product lines of these particular companies and many others that are not part of this feature is available on their own company websites.
