Manufacturers provide a variety of balers to meet the needs of information destruction professionals.

Once document descruction companies have shredded the confidential documents entrusted to their care, they must consider how to best store and transport the resulting material on to paper recyclers. Many document destruction professionals turn to balers, which help these companies turn their unruly wisps of shredded paper into tidy packages for shipment. Dense and stackable, bales of shredded paper are easier to handle, to store and to transport than loose material. And with the small footprint of many balers, even facilities without much excess floor space can accommodate the equipment.

Manufacturers offer secure document destruction professionals baling equipment in an array of processing capacities. Available features include air conveying systems that connect the baler directly to the shredder, offering a high degree of security and efficiency. Many manufacturers also provide balers that include computer systems that monitor the balers’ performance and maintenance requirements, while automatic operation eliminates the need for a dedicated baler operator in many instances.

Safety is also a primary concern of baler manufacturers, and many innovations reflect that. For instance, one baler manufacturer has designed its equipment so that users without the proper authorization are denied access, and other companies employ transmitter systems that will automatically stop the baling process if an employee wearing a transmitter crosses the path of the sensor. The system reduces the incidence of major injuries when used correctly.

Many balers also boast reductions in energy consumption, making them more economical to operate and more efficient than earlier models. Additionally, some baler manufacturers also have an eye on wire management, further decreasing the cost of operations.
