The first Lindemann LIS Scrap Shear assembled in North America has been completed at Metso Minerals’ new facility in Brunswick, Ohio, near Cleveland. “Our new Ohio facility has allowed us to respond to our customers’ needs in a more timely manner,” says Tim Conway, a Metso Recycling vice president of sales and marketing. Conway also noted that two other LIS Scrap Shears are nearing completion, with one to be finished in December and the other to be finished in the first quarter of 2009. The new facility, located near Metso Minerals’ existing engineering and manufacturing facility in Brunswick, has a total crane capacity of 80 tons and is expected to double the fabrication capacity of Metso Minerals’ Ohio operations. “With our new manufacturing and assembly process, our lead times are significantly shorter than those of our competition,” Conway says. The LIS is Lindemann’s product for output requirements of up to 20 tons per hour. The scrap shear has been designed to offer “excellent efficiency, outstanding production quality and fully developed technology,” according to the company. The LIS is available in stationery or semi-mobile configurations. Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical design features of Lindemann’s EtaCut line have also been incorporated into the LIS.
