Metso, Outotec complete merger

The combination of Metso’s Minerals business and Outotec’s business has been completed, resulting in the formation of Metso Outotec Corp. Outotec was a designer and builder of minerals processing and metals refining systems, while Metso Minerals offered equipment and services for the processing and flow of natural resources in the mining, aggregates, recycling and process industries. The combined company is headquartered in Finland, as were its predecessor companies.

In July 2019, the companies announced a demerger plan to spin off Metso’s Neles flow control equipment line into a separate company and to combine the Metso Minerals business with Outotec. The companies received unconditional merger control clearance from the European Commission in May of this year.

According to a news release about the merger, the completion of Metso’s partial demerger was registered at the Finnish Trade Register June 30.

The new company is focused on sustainable minerals and metals processing and recycling technologies. Headquartered in Helsinki, Metso Outotec employs more than 15,000 people in more than 50 countries, and its combined sales for 2019 were 4.2 billion euros (or almost $5 billion).

The company offers crushing and screening equipment for the production of aggregates as well as equipment and solutions for minerals processing, metals refining, chemical processing and metal and waste recycling. Metso Outotec says its service capabilities are complemented by a range of spare and wear parts, refurbishments and professional services.

“It is our core expertise to help our customers transform the industry,” says Pekka Vauramo, president and CEO of Metso Outotec.

Orion deploys collection truck fleet in Wisconsin county

Orion Waste Solutions, headquartered in Bethel Heights, Arkansas, says it has deployed a fleet of fully automated collection trucks in Outagamie County, Wisconsin, as part of a recently awarded seven-year recycling contract.

According to Orion, the trucks are specifically designed to decrease litter that often escapes when servicing accounts in high wind.

“Thanks to special features of the New Way-built side-load body, litter is almost nonexistent,” says Jeff Patton, Orion general manager for Wisconsin. “As well, the new trucks are cleaner, quieter and more efficient,” he adds.

Wastequip opens new equipment service facility

Wastequip LLC, Charlotte, North Carolina, has opened its first Wastequip WRX equipment service facility in Pompano Beach, Florida. Wastequip WRX provides parts, service and installation for Wastequip brands, including its Mountain Tarp and Pioneer tarping systems, Galbreath hoists, Amrep refuse trucks and its Go To Parts original equipment manufacturer and aftermarket parts.

Customers who use Wastequip WRX will receive service from a Wastequip-owned facility with technicians trained in maintaining the company’s specific products.

“The idea behind Wastequip WRX is to localize maintenance and parts, providing Wastequip-authorized service technicians and replacement parts inventory where we have limited or no authorized equipment dealers,” Wastequip CEO Marty Bryant says. “Additionally, the opening of Wastequip WRX facilities will support the expansion of our Amrep brand in the eastern U.S. by ensuring that customers have convenient access to fleet maintenance and parts.”

The company says Wastequip WRX will enhance its dealer network and provide access to service and parts for its equipment brands.
