TranAct introduces free online scrap buying application

TranAct, St. Petersburg, Florida, and the Scrap Dragon development team have released a free online scrap buying application called Scrap Yard Dog, available at www.ScrapYardDog.com. This version is intended for small retailers and transaction limits apply, according to TranAct.

The Dragon/Dog version of Scrap Yard Dog automates transactions and pictures, with commodity, customer and LeadsOnline reporting, TranAct says.

“This product is free and will stay free,” says TranAct CEO Ken Gruber. “Scrap Yard Dog was built as a mobile application for Scrap Dragon customers.”

Scrap Yard Dog solves organizational issues for small scrap yards, redemption centers and peddlers who don’t need all the bells and whistles, according to the company.

“We receive requests all the time from business owners who are too small to purchase Scrap Dragon,” the company says in a news release. “Now, if you own any electronic device, a financial investment is not required. Upgrade paths are available, but please enjoy this sleek interface and make sure to let us know how we can make it better,” TranAct adds.

To start using Scrap Yard Dog, visit www.ScrapYardDog.com, choose Scrap Dragon, complete a password/customer information form and respond to an email with confirmation instructions. Scrap Yard Dog creates a new company, and you are ready to buy. A generic recycling commodity list is created that users can edit and add pricing to to fully customize. Users can interact with a touch-screen ticket entry interface on their phones, tablets and/or computers. Pictures and customer signatures can be recorded with mobile devices, and the tickets can print to PDF, completing a compliant point of purchase flow, TranAct says.

LBX Co. LLC, Lexington, Kentucky, says it has renewed its relationship with North American financing partner DLL, Wayne, Pennsylvania. DLL has a longstanding history with LBX and its dealer network, having provided comprehensive retail and wholesale financing support dating back to 2003. The program officially launched in the United States Aug. 4, 2016, and in Canada Sept. 1, 2016.

With more than 35 years of vendor finance experience backed by a commitment to dealer service, DLL provides flexible financial solutions to customers around the globe, LBX says, adding that DLL will be fully engaged with LBX to ensure tailored financial solutions are provided to LBX dealers and customers.

Eric Sauvage, president and chief executive officer of LBX, says, “DLL was our exclusive finance partner prior to the launch of Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing Co. (SMFL). Bulldog Holdings acquires Excel Manufacturing

Bulldog Holdings LLC has announced that it has acquired substantially all of the assets of Excel Manufacturing, St. Charles, Minnesota. The company will continue operations as Excel Manufacturing from its factory in St. Charles.

Clint Streit, president and CEO of Bulldog Holdings, now also serves as president of Excel Manufacturing.

“We’re excited about this acquisition,” Streit says. “Excel is a company with a solid product portfolio and a history of innovation. The former owners made significant investments in production equipment, design and processes to establish a foundation for future growth.”

He continues, “We were looking to acquire an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) in an industry with positive long-term trends. The recycling industry and Excel fit that bill.”

Streit acknowledges that Excel “has experienced issues in customer service and distribution under the previous management.” However, he adds, “We’ve focused on immediately correcting those issues.”

While the objective is to grow Excel in the long term and to expand its product line, Streit says, “We’ll remain concentrated on building single- and two-ram balers with lowest total cost of ownership and highest lifetime return on investment.”

He adds, “We’re also highly focused on delivering superior engineering and customer support and service.”

Excel offers single- and two-ram balers and in-feed conveyors. More information is available at www.excelmfg.com.

International Truck offers predictive cruise control

International Truck, Lisle, Illinois, now offers predictive cruise control technology on its International ProStar and LoneStar Class 8 on-highway trucks. According to the company, this technology uses preinstalled GPS maps and the latest commercial route data to adjust cruising speed without the need to predrive the route.

“Because the GPS maps and route data are already loaded, this smart technology will enable fleets and drivers to obtain greater fuel efficiency and reduced emissions right out of the box,” says Denny Mooney, senior vice president of global product development. “As a result, drivers who frequently run different routes will experience the same benefit as drivers who are used to driving a standard route.”

The company says predictive cruise control monitors driver speed, engine load, weight and the road grade to optimize the vehicle’s performance based on the road ahead. As a truck enters certain types of terrain, such as rolling hills, predictive cruise control modulates cruising speed to correspond to the topography.

Mooney says, “By reducing the need for drivers to make frequent adjustments to the terrain, the system makes vehicles easier and safer to operate, thus helping our customers attract and retain new drivers and be more successful.”

AMUT Ecotech folds into fellow business unit

The corporate merging of the AMUT Ecotech business unit into AMUT SpA has been approved by the board of the Novara, Italy-based AMUT Group.

AMUT Ecotech included the operations of the former COMER €ngineering, an Italy-based manufacturer of waste processing plants acquired by AMUT in 2011.

AMUT says, “The main reasons [for the foldup] are the ability to respond to increasingly complex technical issues, internationalization of activities, increase of orders and related financial standards required.”

As of July 1, 2016, AMUT Ecotech “has become the environmental division of AMUT SpA.” The firm adds that its incorporation “is one of several strategic and organizational decisions that have been implemented in recent years by AMUT SpA” to provide integrated solutions.

Right Away Disposal installs McMRF from CP Group

Right Away Disposal, Apache Junction, Arizona, has opened a new McMRF, a small material recovery facility (MRF), provided by San Diego-based CP Group.

The new system features improved system integration and new CP Group disc screens, the supplier says.

CP Group worked with Right Away Disposal to engineer a McMRF using new and existing equipment. CP Group says it incorporated Right Away Disposal’s existing sort lines, conveyors and a baler with new CP disc screens to automate the system, process higher throughput and recover more commodities.

The new disc screens include a CP Glass Breaker Screen and a CPScreen, both of which feature the patented CP Cam-Disc for the segregation of 2D material from 3D material. The company also installed a new CP OCCScreen.

CP Group CEO Terry Schneider says, “This facility shows how CP is able to blend existing equipment with our own to create a low-cost, highly effective solution.”

Running 10 tons per hour, the new system is helping Right Away Disposal achieve its recovery goals for OCC (old corrugated containers), fines, fiber, OMP (old magazine papers) and containers, CP Group says.

“Commodities are captured in cages rather than bunker silos,” Schneider says. “It’s another way we kept the system affordable while maintaining CP’s high standards of engineering and performance,” he adds.

Right Away Disposal’s McMRF system serves Apache Junction and surrounding communities.

Terex implements Fuchs expansion plan

Terex Corp., Bad Schönborn, Germany, is implementing a series of strategic moves and investments designed to better position its purpose-built Fuchs material handler business for global expansion and sales growth. The moves include the recent rebranding to “Fuchs – A Terex Brand” in key markets for consistent global brand recognition. The Fuchs line also transitioned to the Terex Material Processing segment, which is a better strategic fit for the business within the broader Terex portfolio, the company says. Additionally, multiple new machine introductions were made at key international trade shows during the first two quarters of 2016, including the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) 2016 Convention & Exposition in Las Vegas and Bauma and IFAT 2016 in Munich.

“The purpose-built Fuchs material handlers are integral to the long-term Terex business strategy and a natural fit in the Materials Processing segment,” says Kieran Hegarty, president of Terex Materials Processing. “We intend to grow and expand the Fuchs business globally beyond the line’s traditional scrap markets into such markets as timber, recycling and ports.”

The company says accelerated investment in Fuchs’ new product development has resulted in multiple announcements of new models and model upgrades. Two completely new model class designs recently were introduced—the Fuchs MHL390 F and MHL370 F—to give customers more material handling options to fill a wider variety of application needs.

AT IFAT Fuchs introduced upgrades to its MHL320 F handler, designed as an entry-level unit for recycling, solid waste and small scrap operations that need high lift capacities at extended reaches, efficient sorting capabilities and fast trailer loading/unloading delivered by purpose-built handlers, Terex says. Additionally, the business segment unveiled the new purpose-built Fuchs cab design at the annual ISRI Convention that will hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2016. The new cab design incorporates more glass to improve visibility, new joystick steering control for improved maneuverability and a revised interior for more space and greater operator comfort.

At the Fuchs Application Center at the machine manufacturing facility in Germany, Fuchs team members work closely with customers to design one-off handling solutions to meet specific application needs.

Fuchs gives customers the opportunity to optimize and adapt material handlers to meet the specific needs of the application, Terex says. A complete team consisting of Fuchs distributors, sales representatives, engineers and technicians work closely with the customer to custom design a machine to fit a specific niche need of the customer.
