Wendt, Proman establish joint venture in India
Wendt Corp., a Buffalo, New York-based manufacturer of shredding and separation solutions for recycling, has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Proman Infrastructure Services Pvt. Ltd., based in Bangalore, India. Proman specializes in heavy industrial equipment solutions, focusing on crushing, screening and material handling. The JV establishes Wendt Proman Metal Recycling Pvt. Ltd. to serve customers in India.
According to Wendt Corp., the joint venture leverages the two companies’ expertise. Through the effort, Proman will contribute local manufacturing infrastructure, an exclusive sales network, postsale service and support and expertise on India’s industrial market, while Wendt will supply a portfolio of shredding and nonferrous product designs, solutions and engineering support.
Wendt Corp. says the companies have identified India as an emerging market for the use of shredding and separation technologies.
Government regulations in India outline criteria for defining end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) and scrapping them.
R.S. Raghavan, managing director of Proman, says the availability of scrap “is a major issue in India, with the current deficit around 7 million tons.”
“With a recent increase in the consumption of steel and ELVs within the Indian market over the past few years, we anticipate the volume of available scrap to also increase, opening up the opportunity for new and modern recycling plants,” he says. “Our joint venture with Wendt will allow us to offer complete shredding and recycling solutions at a competitive price with local after-sales support in India.”
According to Wendt Corp., India has high growth potential for hammermill shredders because about 10 million unfit vehicles are estimated to be on the road in that nation.
In August 2022, Wendt Corp. also formed Wendt GmbH in Germany, and says the formation of Wendt Proman Metal Recycling Pvt. Ltd. represents its continued commitment to global expansion.
“We are proud to join forces with Proman, combining our experience in auto shredding and leading-edge technology with their large-scale manufacturing capabilities and Indian market expertise,” Wendt Corp. President Tom Wendt says. “The combination of our complementary services allows us to properly serve the expanding market needs of the Indian market and surrounding regions as a full-service organization.”
NED expands sales of Fuchs equipment to Georgia
National Equipment Dealers LLC (NED), a heavy equipment rental, sales and services company based in Lexington, North Carolina, has expanded its sales and service footprint with Fuchs material handlers beyond the currently authorized territory of Houston and Dallas to include Georgia.
“Our expansion with Fuchs is perfect timing for the ongoing growth of our company throughout Georgia,” NED Chief Sales Officer Dan Letterle says. “The addition of this great line of material handling equipment will build on our already well-established presence in the scrap and recycling industry in Georgia.”
NED says it is growing fast throughout Georgia with service branches in Richmond Hill and Dallas. The company plans to open two additional branches to support customers in other parts of the state later this year.
NED, formerly known as Four Seasons Equipment in Texas, has represented the Fuchs brand since 2014. Over the last eight years, NED says it earned the coveted Fuchs Material Handler status of top dealer for Texas.
“Over the years, our specialist team developed strong sales and support relationships with key scrap customers by leveraging other brands that we represent,“ Letterle says. “We are excited to expand our equipment solutions with Fuchs material handlers to a growing customer base.”
