Wendt Corp. sells compact wire chopping system

Scrap Central, Omaha, Nebraska, has purchased the MTB Cable Box from Wendt Corp., Buffalo, New York. This is the first such unit that Wendt has sold in the U.S.

The MTB Cable Box, a compact wire chopping system, offers Scrap Central a containerized, turnkey wire chopping solution to begin processing its increasing volume of nonferrous materials, including insulated No. 1 and No. 2 copper wire and neoprene and ACSR (aluminum conductor steel-reinforced) wires, as well as auto shredder residue (ASR) wire it is currently generating from customers and commercial accounts, Wendt says.

The system features a BDR1245 shredder, two BAT800 granulators, air density tables, screens, magnetic separators, integrated electrical controls and a dust collection system.

The MTB Cable Box system was scheduled to be installed and commissioned at Scrap Central by the end of 2016.

Awlwright Construction begins operating as REI

In a letter to customers dated Nov. 10, 2016, and signed by Dwayne Skow and Jay Brock, Awlwright Construction, Fort Worth, Texas, announced the company’s name change to Recycling Equipment Inc. (REI).

REI, based in Newton, North Carolina, has sold and installed recycling equipment, including shredders and balers, throughout the United States, Canada, South America, Europe and Africa since 1994. The company is owned by President Scott Sharp and Senior Vice President Joey Walls.

Skow, former president of Awlwright, will no longer be engaged in daily operations so that he can pursue other interests. However, he will stay loosely involved with the business.

Brock, who now serves as vice president of Southwest operations at REI, remains with the company.

REI will serve as the dealer for American Baler, Bellevue, Ohio, covering the territory previously assigned to Awlwright in addition to its existing territory on the East coast.
