A-Ward Attachments Celebrates Ground Beaking

Representatives from A-Ward Attachments, headquartered in New Zealand, held a groundbreaking ceremony in Savannah, Ga., to showcase the company’s first manufacturing operation in the United States. The new facility, to be operated by Savannah Global Inc., will be A-Ward Attachments’ first manufacturing facility in the Americas.

Savannah Global is an independent manufacturing company involved in the manufacturing of forestry attachments.

The ceremony in honor of the ground breaking was Nov. 20. Marcel Dunant, general manager of A-Ward Attachments Ltd., the Americas, notes that having a facility only two miles from the Savannah port ideally positions the company to get its products to customers more quickly.

Along with the manufacturing facility, the company also will have a parts center and warehouse near the Savannah Port.

Equipment to be manufactured at the site includes containers and container tilters, such as the 20/40 Combination Container Tilter, which Dunant says is the "world’s fastest exporter." The plant also will manufacture two models of A-Ward’s 20-foot tilters.

A-Ward’s new Savannah operation is located on 15 acres. Currently the facility employs 20 people, though that number is expected to increase as product demand grows.

Dunant adds that while the facility will serve markets throughout the world, the Americas are a key growth area for A-Ward Attachments.

Genesis Adds to Hydraulic Attachment Line

Genesis Attachments, Superior, Wis., has introduced what it describes as a more economical tool for processing concrete, the Genesis Demolition Recycler (GDR).

Designed for third-member use on machines in the 45,000-pound and larger class, the GDR delivers 115 tons of crushing force at the tip, a 32-inch jaw depth, a jaw opening of 35 inches and a 5.5-second (at 66 gallons per minute) cycle time.

The GDR also can be custom configured according to the end user’s specific needs, says Dan Raihala, Genesis’ design engineer. "This tool can be custom configured to meet customers’ needs from as few as five pulverizing teeth and 16-inch blades to as many as 19 pulverizing teeth and a 4-inch cutting blade," according to Raihala.
