ASI to Offer Advanced Route Optimization Solutions
Andrews Software Inc. (ASI) of Cleveland, a provider of software solutions for the information management and document destruction industries, has partnered with Logistic Solutions Group (LSG), Reston, Va., a leader in advanced route optimization solutions.
Under the terms of the exclusive partnership, ASI customers will have access to "RoutePerfect," LSG’s solution that simplifies delivery routing, increases stops per truck and reduces route miles and overtime, according to ASI.
"Improving efficiency and reducing operational costs for our clients is one of ASI’s key objectives," ASI Vice President of Sales and Marketing Scott Bidwell says. "While the initial roll-out of ASI’s document destruction software Veri-Shred included routing capabilities using Microsoft’s MapPoint software, it was not as robust as we wanted. After exhaustive research, we determined that Logistic Solutions Group offered route-based computing solutions that were intuitive, powerful and cost effective for our customers." He adds, "With RoutePerfect, we are able to offer a superior route planning and management tool that complements both Visual Corporate Keeper and Veri-Shred, ASI’s industry-specific software solutions."
LSG VP of Sales Steve Camp says integrating RoutePerfect with ASI’s software "offers the industry a unique solution that can significantly and positively impact daily operational efficiencies and reduce costs."
RoutePerfect’s unique mapping and route optimization features include multiple address databases; the ability to view multiple routes from one map interface to optimize routes by time or distance; a load capacity feature for efficient routing based on per-truck maximum capacity; and GPS integration with real-time monitoring.

PlexEraser Destroys CDs, DVDs
Plextor LLC, based in Fremont, Calif., has introduced PlexEraser, a CD/DVD drive that enables organizations to securely destroy discs using what it calls an environmentally friendly method.
PlexEraser is a stand-alone unit that does not require a personal computer to operate. According to the company, PlexEraser destroys discs without shredding, therefore organic dye does not leak from the discs, unlike when the discs are manually shattered or shredded.
PlexEraser uses a laser beam to destroy the data-logging portion of a CD/DVD disc. According to Plextor, "This directly obliterates the data recording layer in the disc, which means the data is unreadable and unrecoverable." Following destruction, the drive automatically marks the disc to differentiate those that have been processed from those that have not. PlexEraser is designed to be used continuously if necessary and destroys eight types of disc formats in 12- and 8-centimeter sizes in three to six minutes, on average.
