METSO TEXAS SHREDDER PLACES SHEAR

Trademark Metals Recycling LLC (TMR), Tampa, Fla., has purchased a 1,200-ton Lindemann EC (ETA-cut) shear from Metso Texas Shredder Inc. (MTSI), based in San Antonio, Texas.

TMR is a subsidiary of the David J. Joseph Co., a leading scrap processing and trading company with headquarters in Cincinnati and a leading metal recycler in the Southeastern United States. TMR operates 14 locations, including four auto shredders in Florida. Its largest installation is a Texas Shredder 7,000-hp mega shredder at the Port of Tampa. The new shear will be installed in Tampa at TMR’s Sutton location.

"The Lindemann EC shear’s optimized drive and control system makes the new generation shear an extremely high-production machine while consuming significantly less energy for scrap operations," according to a press release from MTSI. The unit includes a Wear Con plate monitoring system that helps to prevent emergency downtime.

Metso Texas Shredder sells the full line of Lindemann shears and balers.

SENNEBOGEN NAMES TOP THREE DISTRIBUTORS

Sennebogen has named its top three distributors for 2005.

Erich Sennebogen Jr., managing partner of Sennebogen GmbH, and Constantino Lannes, president of Sennebogen America, recognized Briggs Construction Equipment, based in Dallas; Top Lift Enterprises, based in Ontario, Canada; and Gibson Machinery, based in Cleveland, at a distributor meeting this summer.

"We are very fortunate to have been one of Sennebogen’s top three distributors," John Van Ruitenbeek of Briggs said. "I look at all the distributors that Constantino has invited to be part of the Sennebogen network and see that we are in excellent company."

Alex D’Agnillo, who was named Sennebogen salesman of the year for Briggs, said, "From a salesman’s perspective, these machines are great to present to the customer because whatever we say they can do, they do."

David Shea, managing director of Top Lift Enterprises acknowledged the efforts of his sales team, headed by Joel Paiken. "Joel’s hard work led to the sale of the first 850 machine built by the company along with the first electric pedestal crane on this continent."

Erich Sennebogen said, "We know that some distributors, due to the size of their territory, may never be in the Top Five, but they represent the product as if they were the No. 1 distributor. The fact is, in their territory, they are the No. 1 distributor with the No. 1 product."

Sennebogen’s Lannes said that with mergers, acquisitions and the multi-national nature of the industry, good service can reflect positively on the whole network. "That’s why we take such care in finding the right dealer; not just any dealer can be a Sennebogen dealer," he said.

Based in Charlotte, N.C., Sennebogen America offers a complete range of purpose-built machines for material handling applications. The company has a growing number of distributors throughout the Americas to provide professional machine support and parts. More information is available at www.sennebogen-na.com.

NITON INTRODUCES PORTABLE ANALYZER FOR LIGHT ELEMENTS

The Niton Analyzers business unit of Thermo Electron Corp., Billerica, Mass., has introduced a portable analysis tool for light element content in alloys.

The company says the Niton XLt 898He "provides fast, laboratory-quality chemical analysis of light element content in aluminum and titanium alloys, as well as nickels, superalloys, stainless steels and more."

The interior of the XLt 898He’s measurement head is filled with helium, which purges atmospheric air from the X-ray analysis path, allowing light element X-rays to contact the XLt’s high-resolution X-ray detector. "As a result," according to Thermo, "Niton XLt operators can now confidently measure light element alloy content with the same analyzer that they use to test high-temp alloys—a feat previously impossible with a handheld, portable analyzer."

More information on the Niton XLt 898He is available online at www.thermo.com/niton.
