Craig Busch, president of Busch Systems International Inc., has been named the Arch Brown Entrepreneur of the Year for 2004 in the company’s home city of Barrie, Ontario, Canada.

The award recognizes individuals who exemplify the entrepreneurial spirit and have seen great success in areas such as growth, profit record, participation in grant and total quality management programs and foster innovative employee relationships, according to the company.

Busch was chosen out of a group of 11 nominees in Barrie at the 2004 Bell Business Awards Gala in November.

 "There isn’t a model or formula for what our company looks like, so we need to innovate in everything we do, from product design and operations through superior marketing and service," Busch said when accepting the award.

Busch Systems specializes in providing recycling container solutions to a wide range of industries, including municipal governments and educational institutions. The company makes more than 170 types of products.

Genesis Attachments, Superior, Wis., has introduced a new addition to its line of XP Series mobile shears that it has dubbed "The World’s Largest Mobile Shear."

Capable of providing more than 3,000 tons of cutting force at 5,000 psi, the GXP 2500R is currently at work in a ship-breaking operation on the East Coast, Kevin Bakke, Genesis vice president and co-general manager, says.

"This customer came to us asking for a shear that could process materials commonly found in a ship dismantling application, including the ability to consistently pierce 1-¾-inch ship plate," he says.

Weighing in at 53,000 pounds, the GXP 2500 fits excavators in the 200,000--plus--pound range. It has a jaw depth of 48 inches and a 46-inch jaw opening. It features a longer cylinder stroke and a lever arm designed to boost power in the throat and piercing tip and to increase shear force at the apex where the majority of cutting occurs, Genesis says.
