CP MFG. BUYS MSS SORTING LINE
Recycling equipment maker CP Manufacturing Inc., National City, Calif., has acquired high-tech sorting equipment maker MSS Inc. of Nashville, Tenn.
"We can now offer our customers fully automated material recovery systems with a single source design and system operational responsibility," Robert M. Davis, president of CP Manufacturing, says.
"We see fully automated sorting of plastic, glass and paper as the future in material recovery facilities (MRFs)," says John O. Willis, CP’s vice president of sales and marketing. "And we believe the future is now."
CP Manufacturing has been among the leaders in creating single-stream MRF systems for recyclers of curbside materials. The company acquired equipment maker Count Recycling Systems of Clive, Iowa, in 2000.
MSS has designed optical sorting equipment to identify and separate material based on color, including the PaperSort system for paper, the ColorSort system for glass and the Aladdin system for plastics.
According to a CP news release, "MSS will operate as a subsidiary of CP Manufacturing Inc. and continue to sell a range of products that they have developed over the past 24 years."
METSO MINERALS UNLEASHES SPIDER
Metso Minerals, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, says its four-pin spider rotor has generated multiple sales thus far in 2003.
The most recent has been to DMS Shredding of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and will be installed in DMS Shredding’s Metso Minerals 6080 Scrap Shredder.
Metso Minerals Metal Recycling says its spider rotor assembly delivers 500,000 to 1 million tons or more of rotor life to many of its customers, and no welding is required during the rotor’s lifetime.
"The Metso rotor is the heaviest rotor available on the market and adds 50 percent more workforce than our closest competitor’s rotor," says Bill Tigner, Metso’s vice president and general manager.
The full cutting action of a four-pin spider rotor is designed to increase throughput in cutter bar and anvil machines. Metso says it is the most aggressive, easiest feeding rotor design available on the market today.
OHIO MAGNETICS OFFERS MAG PACKAGES
Ohio Magnetics, Maple Heights, Ohio, has introduced the new Hydra-Mag Package, used to power DC electro magnets from the hydraulic system of mobile cranes or excavators.
The unit includes a five-kilowatt (KW) generator and a CDS magnet controller with low voltage control and meter package.
Ohio Magnetics offers the hydraulic magnetic power packages in various sizes, including 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 kilowatts. The units are self-contained and frame mounted, eliminating the need to individually mount the components and interconnect them.
The Hydra-Mag Package operates on either 12- or 24-volt direct current from the existing battery(s) of the crane or excavator that receives the new unit. Complete with a hydraulic motor, control solenoid, filter and check valve, they are ready to install and operate upon delivery.
More information on the package is available on-line at www.ohiomagnetics.com.
