Companies Announce Alliance
Deere & Company of Moline, Ill., and Bell Equipment of Richards Bay, South Africa, have announced a stra- tegic alliance giving Deere & Company an equity investment in Bell Equipment and exclusive rights to distribute Bell-manufactured articulated dump trucks in North America.
Deere will sell and service the trucks, which will carry the John Deere brand name. The trucks are used for off-highway construction and mining applications.
"Our dealers and customers demand a full range of equipment and the new Deere truck series fits well with our line of construction equipment," says Pierre Leroy, president of Deere & Company’s Worldwide Construction Equipment Division. "This agreement supports our efforts to provide a total equipment solution for our customer."
Bell distributes trucks through some Deere dealers in North America and is Deere’s construction equipment distributor in South Africa. The agreement includes distribution of articulated dump trucks only. Bell Equipment and Deere & Company began working together three years ago and sales will begin in the fall of 1999. The trucks will continue to be manufactured at Bell’s facility in Richard’s Bay, South Africa.
Show Draws Record Numbers
The Hillhead ’99 International Quarry and Recycling Show, held in the United Kingdom in June, set record numbers in attendance figures and exhibitors. The three-day event had 16,800 visitors and 430 exhibitors. Some popular attractions at the show included the Powerscreen-sponsored recycling demonstration area, where about 4,000 tons of imported C&D material was processed by equipment from the United Kingdom and overseas manufacturers.
Two of the largest exhibitors at the show were Marubeni-Komatsu, with the 240 ton Komatsu H255S mining shovel, and the Gencor ACP’s Titan 3000 free-standing asphalt plant. The Titan 3000 is over 70 foot in height and was the largest asphalt plant ever displayed at the show.
Distributors and exhibitors at the show commented on the positive response they received while at the show. Volvo Construction Equipment said they were "very pleased" with the responses from the show and Atlas Copco said the show could be their best show ever.
NORDBERG ADDS DISTRIBUTOR
Nordberg, Milwaukee, Wisc., has named Eastern Equipment Sales Inc., Berlin, Conn., as its Mobile Screen Line distributor for Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Nordberg’s Mobile Screen Line includes Conveyor Equipped and Screen-All lines.
Nordberg’s distributorship of the Mobile Line Screen line includes more than 35 states, four Canadian provinces and parts of Mexico. Nordberg is a supplier of mineral and rock processing screening equipment and related services. The company also designs and manufactures plant systems for the processing of concrete, rock, ore and minerals.
ATI SPELLS OUT NAME
The former ATI Global, Delhi, Iowa, has changed its name to Attachment Technologies Inc. in order to "clarify the company’s mission with the marketplace and customers in the construction equipment industry."
Attachment Technologies is the parent company of Bradco and The Major, two construction industry attachment providers for skid steer loaders, tractors, telescopic handlers, wheel loaders and other equipment.
"The change was inevitable," says Robert Hartsock, Attachment Technologies president and CEO. "We want our customers to see us as the leading edge attachment design and products provider in the construction equipment industry. The new name complements this image perfectly."
