Nordberg Group, Milwaukee, Wisc., will become one of two major operating units within the Machinery Business Area as a result of a merger between Valmet and Rauma Corporations. Current planning calls for the newly-combined entity, known as Metso Corp., Helsinki, Finland, to be split into three business areas—fiber and paper processing, automation and controls and machinery. Nordberg will be the major operating unit for rock crushing and will retain its company name.
Nordberg Group president and CEO Olli Vaartimo says the merger will be beneficial for Nordberg. It will help strengthen the company’s market position and create a global leader in their main product areas. Nordberg already uses Valmet’s transmission products in its grinding mills and may also be able to use other Valmet products such as crushing equipment.
PENNSYLVANIA CRUSHER ACQUIRES JEFFREY
Pennsylvania Crusher Corp., Broomall, Pa., has purchased the operations and assets of Jeffrey Specialty Equipment Corp. from Global Processing Systems Inc., Dallas, Texas.
The Jeffrey operations, located in Woodruff, S.C., will be run as a newly formed, wholly-owned Pennsylvania Crusher Corp. subsidiary known as Jeffrey Specialty Equipment Corp. Both companies will remain autonomous, says John D. Whalen, chairman and CEO of Pennsylvania Crusher Corp. and of Jeffrey Specialty Equipment Corp. “We anticipate, however, a number of situations where the experience and know-how of one company will support and enhance the effectiveness of both,” he says. “Each company enjoys a very stable employee base, people with decades of experience who understand how to satisfy customer requirements.”
Pennsylvania Crusher is a provider of equipment for power generation, quarries, process plants, recycling operations and other size reduction industries. The company manufactures its equipment at its Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, plant and also operates a size reduction laboratory at its headquarters in Broomall, Pa.
Jeffrey Specialty Equipment was originally part of Jeffrey Manufacturing Co. and manufactures industrial ham-mermills for size reduction and vibrating feeders and conveyors for material handling.
