Cohen starts up IT equipment recycling subsidiary

Middletown, Ohio-based Cohen says it is launching a new information technology (IT) life cycle management subsidiary that will “focus on reuse while protecting data, human health and the environment.”

Cohen held an “official launch party” Thursday, June 1, 2017, to provide more details on the name and mission and of the “new Cohen brand.” The theme of the party was “A Whole Blue World.” It took place at the company’s recently expanded Cohen Electronics recycling facility in Middletown.

Cohen Holdings, which bills itself as one of the nation’s largest metal and electronics recycling companies, says the new subsidiary will offer “complete IT life cycle management services.”

The company says its subsidiary will provide services that include:

• optimizing reusable refurbished asset value;
• mitigating risks associated with data security breaches;
• protecting individual identity and corporate brand equity; and
• minimizing negative environmental and human health impacts.

Cohen will continue to accept and process electronics, such as computers, telecom equipment, TVs and cellphones, for businesses and consumers alike.

Its Cohen Electronics subsidiary has earned and maintains six certifications (subject to annual audits) designed to mandate and outline best practices, the firm says. Those include the e-Stewards and R2 (Responsible Recycling) certifications.
