Joe and Michelle Logan began Logan Aggregate Recycling Inc., Richmond, Va., by thinking smaller.
“I was an area manager and salesman for my family’s heavy equipment dealership for the past eight years,” Joe says. “I had seen a growing need for on-site concrete and asphalt recycling. There were large companies with big machinery that would do over 10,000 tons and charge mobilization fees. Our niche is projects with less than 10,000 [tons], where it is not feasible to mobilize the larger equipment.”
The company’s single mobile crew has processed about 100,000 tons of material in the last year, including concrete, asphalt and other aggregate-based building materials, Joe says.
