The David Joseph Co. (DJJ) has announced plans to open a brokerage office in Phoenix, Ariz. The company hopes to have the new office opened by the end of the first quarter of 2011. When open, the brokerage office will be the third brokerage office opened by the company in the past three years: DJJ opened a Hong Kong office in 2008 and a brokerage office in Switzerland June 2010.
According to a DJJ release, the Phoenix office will provide the company with better coverage of the Southwestern U.S. market, as well as allow the company to target additional business opportunities.
The Phoenix office will be headed by Keith Vaughn, a 12-year veteran of DJJ. Vaughn, who has experience on both the processing and brokerage side of the scrap metal business, began working for DJJ as a buyer for its Denver yard. From there, he moved to the company’s Colorado office as a brokerage representative. He also served in managerial roles at DJJ’s Western Metals Recycling operations and most recently was vice president, Commercial, for DJJ’s Texas Port Recycling.
