Advanced Refining signs multiyear deal to handle spent catalysts

GS EcoMetal will provide recycling services to Advanced Refining Technologies and its customers.

Columbia, Maryland-based Advanced Refining Technologies LLC (ART) and South Korea-based GS EcoMetal Co. Ltd (GSEM) say they have formed a multiyear agreement to recover metals from spent catalysts. GSEM’s processing facility, located in Ulsan, South Korea, will serve ART’s customers in the Asia Pacific region and other regions.

“This new partnership with GS EcoMetal, an established specialist in reclaiming metals from spent catalysts, broadens ART’s offering to include recycling and value enhancing services to our customers where mutual benefit can be recognized,” says Andre Lanning, ART managing director.

GSEM CEO Byung-Rak Lim comments, “This agreement with ART Hydroprocessing, a global leader in hydro processing catalysts, allows GS EcoMetal to expand commercial production and strengthen our impact on protecting the environment through recycling of limited natural resources.”

ART supplies hydro processing catalysts designed to produce cleaner fuels, while GSEM specializes in reclaiming rare metals from spent catalyst generated at oil refineries and petrochemical plants in Korea and abroad.
