The US Shredder and Castings Group, Trussville, Ala., has announced its “Castings for a Cure” campaign, designed to contribute money to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure cancer research foundation.
From Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, a portion of the revenue derived from all of US Shredder’s castings sales will be donated to the Susan G. Komen organization. The company also will accept additional donations during that time as part of the campaign. The donations will be contributed in honor of company president Bill Tigner’s wife Carla, who is a breast cancer survivor.
“Like thousands of families, breast cancer has had a tremendous effect on my family, including my wife, my mother and even my father-in-law,” says Tigner. “All three are now cancer survivors thanks to research made possible from foundations like the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.”
The company also has produced pink “Castings for a Cure” castings that will be given to each customer and donor during the campaign. Tigner says he plans for the program to be repeated every year until a cure has been found.
The US Shredder and Castings Group offers scrap shredders, control systems, downstream systems, nonferrous recovery equipment, air systems, scrap shears, balers, loggers, shredder castings, service and consulting to the scrap recycling industry.
