The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), based in Brussels, has revised its statutes and by-laws with the help of the law firm Bird & Bird LLP. The organization says the goal of the revision is “to achieve better governance and to address important issues resulting from the continuous development and globalization of our world organization,” according to a news posting on its website, www.bir.org.
The BIR General Assembly was convened in Brussels Monday, Oct. 25, during the BIR Autumn Round-Table Sessions, to adopt the revised BIR Statutes and By-Laws, which were tabled in Istanbul June 1 of this year. Because the required quorum was not met, the revisions could not be agreed on.
BIR says the few comments it received before the July 15 deadline were incorporated into the revised statutes and no particular discussion was expected during the convention.
