BIR COMBINES SUBSTANCE, STYLE
The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) holds its Autumn Round-Table in style-conscious Milan Oct. 24-25. All meetings take place at the Milan Marriott Hotel, which is located in a residential area near the city center.
Milan is best known for its sense of style, but it is also home to Italy’s stock exchange La Borsa and serves as the country’s economic engine. While Milan has been destroyed and rebuilt at different points in its history, its cathedral Duomo and da Vinci’s "Last Supper" have survived.
When not enjoying the sights, sounds, scents and flavors of the city, attendees can participate in networking events and take advantage of the BIR’s programming, which includes coverage of international secondary commodity markets and short- and medium-term market forecasts.
BIR Convention, Finance, Communications and Membership Committee meetings are scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 23, before the official start of the conference.
The event begins Monday, Oct. 24, at 8 a.m. with the paper board meeting. A paper roundtable is also schedule for later that morning. Roundtables scheduled for later in the day address plastics, nonferrous and stainless steel and specialty alloys and are open to all conference registrants.
A ferrous and shredders roundtable is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 25, as are round tables for tires and textiles. The BIR’s ferrous board also assembles Tuesday.
Conference attendees are invited to attend a welcome reception Monday, Oct. 24, at the neo-classical Palazzo Reale, which hosts a museum that summarizes six centuries of history.
A Young Traders Group meeting and evening are scheduled for Oct. 24, as well.
