Scrap Expo returns to Louisville, Kentucky, for its third year. The Recycling Today Media Group’s annual event is scheduled for Sept. 17-18 at the Kentucky Exposition Center, and it promises an immersive experience, showcasing equipment demonstrations and the latest machinery and technology helping to advance the metals recycling industry.

The live outdoor demonstration area features various types of equipment, allowing attendees to interact with and operate the machines firsthand. This area replicates the energy and dynamism of a working scrap yard, giving attendees the opportunity to experience how the equipment performs.

“This event is great. I was here [in 2022] for the first time [and] here again [in 2023]. Here we have the outdoor area [and] the live demonstrations. We don’t have that anywhere else. It’s awesome.” – Michael Goldstein, Alter Trading Corp.

Inside the exhibit hall, additional companies showcase their latest products and services. Attendees can engage with exhibitors and one another, forging new connections and gaining valuable insights into the future of scrap processing.

In addition to the outdoor demonstration area and indoor exhibits, Scrap Expo features a lineup of speakers who cover key industry topics, including emerging technologies and how to properly use and maintain scrap yard mainstays, such as material handlers and shears.

Attendees were shuttled from the exposition center to the temporary scrap yard to see materials being processed on-site, providing a firsthand look at the latest machinery in action. Five machines were spotlighted: the Caterpillar MH3026 material handler, the Harris GPS Series Predator, the Sennebogen 340 G telehandler, the Sierra T409 material handler and the Vortex Roter portable baler.
“I think the hands-on element, watching the equipment actually operate, getting the opportunity to speak to the various sales reps while their equipment is working, is what in particular sets Scrap Expo apart from the rest.” – Rob Whistle, Gerdau Metals Recycling
Scrap Expo attracted industry leaders from across the U.S. who participated in several informative sessions on topics ranging from equipment maintenance to the role of software in scrap yards to aluminum markets and the forces shaping the ferrous scrap sector.

Whether you’re an industry veteran or newcomer, Scrap Expo offers something for everyone. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this dynamic event. Register here.
