The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) has named Elizabeth Vermette its director of Government Affairs. The ARA also announced that it has added Ginny Whelan, Betsy Beckwith and D.J. Harrington to the association’s staff.
Vermette, who joined ARA in December 2009, has more than ten years of experience in government relations and public affairs.
Whelan has worked in the automotive recycling industry for the past 35 years. She was a principal owner of a privately owned automotive recycling facility, as well as a self-service automotive recycling facility and a mobile car crushing business. She also served as ARA’s first woman president.
Beckwith, who helped develop an online environmental compliance resource for the automotive recycling industry, will expand her role with ARA. She joined ARA in 2006 to develop the ARA/Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) joint venture.
In his consulting role with ARA, D.J. Harrington will focus on membership recruitment. Harrington is the president and CEO of Phone Logic Inc., a training company based in Atlanta, Ga.
