U Pull It, an auto recycling company based in Davie, Fla., has begun operation of a new auto shredder at its Fort Lauderdale, Fla., facility. U.S. Shredder and Castings Group, Trussville, Ala., supplied the model 80108 shredder.
U.S. Shredder’s engineering services division provided turnkey engineering for all aspects of the installation, including the design of the motor housing and electrical systems, as well as civil and foundation requirements. The entire system is operated under roof.
According to Larry Danielle, U Pull It owner, “The decision to install a U.S. Shredder system was made after we completed an extensive review of all shredder systems available. We concluded the shredder is the industry’s heaviest, and U.S. Shredder’s support and installation services were the best in the industry. Now that the shredder is operational, we couldn’t be happier. We’ve had shredder owners and operators from all over the country visit our site, and 100 percent of them have walked away commenting that this is the finest shredder and operation they have ever seen.”
Danielle adds, “The tons processed, the efficiency of the magnetic drums and nonferrous systems and the overall quality of the equipment is exactly what we were promised. We have not been disappointed. And, with this system, our company now controls our own destiny.”
The shredder is equipped with U.S. Shredder’s heavy-duty disc rotor, and castings and wear parts are provided by the company’s wear part division. AmeriMex of Houston has supplied the shredder’s 4,000-horsepower DC drive system. U.S. Conveyor, Mackinaw, Ill., a sister company of U.S. Shredder, supplied the system conveyors and structural components. SGM Magnetics, Sarasota, Fla., supplied all drum magnets, eddy current separators and sensors. The system is designed to provide production of up to 150 tons per hour, according to U.S. Shredder.
