Atlanta Will Host Recycling Today’s 2009 Conferences

RICHFIELD, OHIO—The Recycling Today Media Group is bringing the 2009 version of its Electronics Recycling Conference and Trade Show to the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta June 7-9.

The WR3A (World Reuse, Repair and Recycling Association) will again serve as a co-sponsor of the Electronics Recycling Conference.

The 2009 Electronics Recycling Conference will focus on several topics of critical interest to companies that collect and process obsolete electronics, including the controversy regarding the exporting of electronic scrap. "The event’s programming has been designed to address the issues and opportunities that are confronting electronics recyclers right now and also that are likely to confront them in the near future," says James R. Keefe, group publisher of the Recycling Today Media Group.

Consecutive sessions addressing responsible exporting practices will feature panelists from corporations, trade groups and government agencies that all have a stake in how electronic scrap is exported. Panelists will examine the differences between the responsible exporting of reconditioned and refurbishable units and the shipping of what amounts to electronic waste.

Other sessions will examine mergers and consolidation within the industry and the shifting value of commodities found in recycled electronics. Additionally, a panel of recycling industry leaders and Thomas J. Cunningham, vice president and associate director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, will provide a broader economic perspective to attendees.

The conference features the theme "Where Business Gets Done." The theme reflects the conference history of not only helping participants get up to date on what’s happening in the industry, but also of providing a venue where processors and traders make deals and form relationships that generate future business for their firms.

The event is co-located with Recycling Today’s Plastics Recycling Conference and the Paper Recycling Conference, with all three conferences sharing a joint exhibit hall and one simple registration process.

Individuals belonging to WR3A or a member company can receive a discounted registration rate of $400. Attendees from companies sending more than one person also can receive discounts. And in 2009, for the first time, an attendee who registers for any of the three conferences will have full access to programming at all three events.

The Hyatt Regency Atlanta, located in that city’s central business district, will serve as the host site of the events. More information on the Electronics Recycling Conference and Trade Show can be found at www.ElectronicsRecyclingConference.com.
