Recently, 22 major packaged goods companies joined The 100% Recycled Paperboard Alliance marketing campaign. This means that more than 700 branded and private-label products that are made from, or packaged with, 100-percent-recycled paperboard will now feature the RPA-100% symbol. The new symbol will either replace or be used in conjunction with the standard “chasing arrows” recycling symbol.
In an RPA-100% poll, eight out of 10 consumers say they are “more likely to buy products packaged in 100-percent-recycled paperboard,” and almost nine out of 10 “feel better about companies that use 100-percent-recycled paperboard for their product packaging.”
Based in New York, RPA-100% licenses use of the new symbol – royalty free – for application on 100-percent-recycled paperboard products and packaging.
CANADIAN RECYCLING GROUP CHANGES NAME
The Ontario Multi-Material Recycling Inc.-II, Ontario, the non-profit multi-industry body that helped capitalize Ontario’s blue box collection network, has changed its name to Corporations in Support of Recycling. Accompanying the name change is a new mission statement: “to provide focused, coordinated, private sector leadership for voluntary, multi-sector initiatives designed to reduce, in a cost-effective manner, the impact of our products on the solid waste stream.”
The organization will be directed by a board with representatives from grocery product manufacturers, soft drink producers, packaging suppliers, food distributors, printing paper users and plastics suppliers.
