stream of shredded paper that needs to be baled before it can be sent on to consuming mills. For this job, Paper Recycling & Shredding Specialists turned to American Baler, Bellevue, Ohio.
Company Snapshot:
Don Weijland, president of Paper Recycling & Shredding Specialists, says, "Because of past experiences, and due to the fact that the material that we bale is shredded paper, we could not afford the possibility of our baling equipment needing repair or not operating properly at all times," he says. For these reasons, the company purchased two PAC 4029-830 balers from American Baler.
Paper Recycling & Shredding Specialists, which was established in 1985, typically bales 1,000 tons of shredded office pack per month, he says, making quick work of the job. The PAC balers’ fast cycle times contribute to the quick pace at Paper Recycling & Shredding Specialists. "This is the fastest cycle time on any baling system we have utilized to date," Weijland says.
The balers are not only fast, they are efficient. "We consume less wire (per ton) and we use less electricity than with our previous baler," he says. "In addition, we have substantial savings on the amount of labor hours required to bale our daily generation of shredded paper."
Bale integrity can be difficult to achieve with shredded paper, but the PAC Series balers are clearly up to the job. "Their statement that their baler ‘bales like a brick’ is truth in advertising," Weijland says.
American Baler’s reputation for building a solid product drew Paper Recycling & Shredding Specialists to the company and its equipment, and the purchase has paid off. "The baler is well constructed," Weijland says. "The baler and wire tie system is simple to operate, and the baler is producing bales that have exceeded our expectations."
