Amcor Ltd. plans to charge 3-to-5 percent more for a range of locally produced and imported paper products to recover the cost of rising pulp prices, according to an article by Bloomberg.
Amcor’s PaperlinX paper unit, which is planning an initial public offer next month, said the company could increase paper prices further.
"Prices for traded pulp continue to increase and are predicted to rise steadily well into 2001 due to continuing low stocks and tight supplies, as well as strong market growth in North America, Europe and Asia," said Ian Wightwick, managing director at PaperlinX.
Under the changes, prices for coated papers, some publication papers and manufacturing stationary grades will increase between 3- and-5 percent April. The increase follows a 5 percent rise in copy paper and imported paper grades in February.
