Kripke Enterprises relocates Ohio headquarters

Kripke Enterprises Inc., headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, has relocated to a 224,000-square-foot building at 8201 W. Central Ave. The new location offers the nonferrous scrap brokerage firm that specializes in aluminum additional office and warehouse space as well as three docks compared with the single dock it had at its previous location, says company President Matt Kripke. The additional docks will allow the company to handle more volume more efficiently, he adds.

The company’s new location originally served as an automotive stamping plant, which closed roughly 15 years ago, Kripke says. Since then, it has been used as a warehouse. Kripke Enterprises completely renovated the site, which it purchased in the fall of 2018.

Kripke says a lack of adequate office space at its previous location prompted the move. “We had grown to the point where we didn’t have enough space for our people.”

The brokerage firm also engages in light processing through its Kripke Metal Processing division. “We are mainly brokers, but we are adding value by buying mixed loads and sorting them at Kripke Metal Processing,” Kripke says.

However, further growth in this area was hampered by space limitations at its previous location. “We were turning opportunities away,” he says.    

The company has plans to grow its processing capabilities now that it has the space to do so. As of yet, Kripke says, “We haven’t radically changed what we can do. It’s still light processing. We still don’t have a baler, briquetter or shredder. Down the road, we will begin looking at those things.”

Kripke Enterprises is using a bit more than half of the new building’s 224,000 square feet and leasing out the rest, Kripke says.
