Programming has been finalized, booth space is sold out, and the attendance registrations are streaming in for the 2001 Paper Recycling Conference & Trade Show. The event is being held at downtown Chicago’s Fairmont Hotel, June 24-26.
The conference is organized and hosted by FibreMarketNews.com and the Recycling Today Media Group, both part of GIE Media Inc., Cleveland. The conference’s organizers are confident that the show will build on the momentum of last year’s debut event, which was held in late June in Atlanta and which had to turn away potential attendees when the cap limit on the number of registrations was reached.
“This year’s show is being held at a larger facility to permit an increase in the number of attendees as well as to create more booth space for an expanded exhibit hall,” says Jeff Fenner, director of conferences and seminars for GIE Media Inc.
According to Fenner, the show has quickly established itself as a quality event that can be attended at a cost well below those offered by many competing paper industry trade shows.
Show registration costs $295, with a special group rate of $245 per person available when three or more attendees from the same company register. The special group discount rate also is available to members of the Paper Stock Industries Chapter (PSI) of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries Inc., Washington, and to attendees from member companies of the American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), Washington.
According to show organizers, the alliances with AF&PA and PSI have been a key in generating interest and attracting attendees to the show. Another key has been the quality of programming, which focuses on issues of interest and concern to those in the paper recycling industry.
Last year’s event included speakers from some of the nation’s largest paper companies, including Weyerhaeuser and Georgia-Pacific, as well as individuals from highly regarded paper recycling companies and equipment manufacturing firms.
This year’s program will again include presentations and interactive discussions with many of the top personnel in the paper and paper recycling industries.
Individuals slated to give presentations at this year’s program include top officials from the following companies:
•America Chung Nam
•Canusa Corp.
•E.L. Harvey & Sons
•Enron Industrial
•Fox River Fiber
•International Paper
•Kimberly-Clark Corp.
•Perry H. Koplik
•Smurfit-Stone
•Solvay Paperboard
•Waste Management Inc./
Recycle America
•Weyerhaeuser Corp.
Topics of discussion have again been chosen to appeal to those actively dealing with the procurement, processing and trading of secondary fiber. Sessions will cover export activities, trends in procurement, e-commerce opportunities and other subjects.
Some two dozen companies will also be exhibiting at Chicago’s Fairmont Hotel, including makers of balers and other processing equipment; software vendors; and national and regional buyers and traders of scrap paper.
The Fairmont Hotel itself provides another incentive to lure attendees to the event. The luxury hotel rises above downtown Chicago’s Grant Park, and is situated within walking distance of a large percentage of the Windy City’s major attractions.
