Crown Packaging Mill Changes Name

Late last month Crown Packaging changed the name of its Burnaby Paper Mill to Greencoast Papermill. The mill, in operation since 1957, has in recent years grown into an enterprise that is at the forefront of recycling. The mill uses various types of recovered fiber as a raw material.

"We want to actively promote the important role we play in reducing the amount of waste paper that could otherwise be destined for landfills", said Terry Henfrey, Greencoast’s vice president and general manager. "Many people aren’t aware there is this large recycling paper mill located in the Burnaby / Vancouver area. Changing our name to Greencoast will provide greater recognition of our significant recycling role".

Widely known as a ‘close the loop’ mill, the Greencoast Papermill accepts recycled fiber materials from its Paper Recovery Division’s nine recycling sites located throughout Western Canada. The mill consumes approximately 133,000 metric tons of recycled fiber per year.
