Ronald Mittelstaedt, president and CEO of Waste Connections, Inc. said, "This transaction will strengthen each company's market and long term strategic positioning. The operations we acquire from Allied will bring critical mass to Waste Connections' Wyoming and Iowa operations and will provide Waste Connections strong market positioning in more rapidly growing markets, particularly Des Moines. This transaction is consistent with Waste Connections' stated objective to have a strong balance of exclusive and non-exclusive market areas and be the number one or number two player in its markets. We achieve these objectives in Eastern Wyoming and Des Moines, Iowa with this transaction. We continue to review further strategic divestiture opportunities with the other public companies, with the purpose of improving long term strategic positioning and integration of existing operations."
