Madison Paper Co. announces plans for a modernization of its Alsip, Ill., facility. The conversion will transform the mill into a domestic supplier of lightweight coated paper.
The project is expected to start the fourth quarter of the year. It will replace the existing deinking facility and papermaking operation with new processing and manufacturing technology. When complete, the mill will produce around 120,000 tons per year of high recycled-content coated paper.
Madison Sales will market the paper by the first quarter of next year. The finished product will be marketed for catalog and magazine applications.
