Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper Inc. is closing its Lyon Falls facility. The shutdown is expected to be completed by March 1.
"The market has changed for Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper's products requiring paper grades that cannot be produced efficiently at the mill," said Robert Strasburg, president of Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper Inc.
"Increased energy and raw materials costs without the ability to recover these costs through higher prices have further reduced operating margins to levels that can no longer be supported," added Strasburg.
Lyons Falls has been actively seeking a buyer for the facility and will continue to do so. The orderly shutdown of the facility will allow for the possibility of a potential buyer to restart the facility in a timely manner.
