Bowater Inc. announced plans
to cut its newsprint production by around 60,000 metric tons through Mary. The
move is being done to adjust inventory levels.
According to a release the
company is now shipping newsprint production at higher prices, following its
March 1 price increase.
The cut is the most recently announced plan by newsprint producers to take downtime to adjust inventory levels. There already have been a number of announcements from other newsprint producers, as well as producers of other paper and paperboard products, to cut production so supply and demand are more in balance through the rest of this year.
