Joe Szany, American Baler's sales manager, says the company was interested in buying the businesses to broaden their product line. "Even though we were both considered in the baler business, we weren’t competitors," Szany said. "Lindemann’s line was bigger than ours, so we built the product line through acquisition instead of building it internally."
The Telford company is now known as Lindemann American Baler Ltd. Lindemann Recycling Equipment's business will be transferred to American Baler’s Bellevue operations. Sales, spare parts and service will continue from the Charlotte site until the end of this month. Svedala Lindemann GmbH in Duesseldorf, Germany, will act as agents for Lindemann American Baler Ltd. for sales, service and spare parts in Germany and adjoining countries.
As a result of the acquisition, American Baler will enjoy an increased customer base, Szany says.
"We did not have a product to compete in the municipal arena, but Lindemann did," he says. "We now have a fuller product line that will broaden our appeal."
