NORTH AND SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATIONS MERGE

The boards of the North Carolina Recycling Association (NCRA) and the South Carolina Recycling Association (SCRA) have voted to consolidate into one organization by July 1, 1998, pending approval of the membership of both groups.

"A consolidated organization can help our members in both Carolinas and effectively and efficiently work to advance the waste reduction and recycling missions both our groups share," said Sandi Childs, president of NCRA, and Ronnie Grant, president of SCRA, in a joint statement.

A transition team has been charged with considering the impacts of the merger on policy advocacy, board representation across the Carolinas, the NCRA’s special emphasis councils, the financial well being of a consolidated organization, and staff and office resources.

NCRA currently has 500 members, and SCRA has 200 members.
