Alpine Waste & Recycling to provide waste, recycling services in Golden, Colorado

Partnership adds 3,400 homes to hauler’s operations.

Alpine Waste & Recycling, Commerce City, Colorado, has agreed to provide the city of Golden, Colorado, with waste hauling and recycling services on an exclusive basis in a deal that will add 3,400 homes to the company’s operations.

The five-year arrangement, which takes effect Aug. 31, 2015, includes access to Alpine’s single-stream Altogether Recycling program.

“Alpine Waste & Recycling was chosen for its ability to provide services that meet all current and long-term, anticipated requirements within the Golden community at a fair price,” says Theresa Worsham, sustainability coordinator for Golden.

On its official website, www.cityofgolden.net, the city of Golden lists numerous other advantages in connection with the Alpine partnership, including:

  • a dedicated Web page for Golden customers;
  • a dedicated phone line for Golden customers;
  • new recycling materials to be accepted into Alpine’s system;
  • automated sustainability reports that track recycling success rates;
  • cleaner-burning natural gas trucks; and
  • a GPS system for efficient truck routes and drive times.

“We’re honored to know that we have the city of Golden’s confidence in our abilities to manage their waste stream and help divert increased amounts of that waste toward our Altogether Recycling plant,” says John Griffith, president of Alpine. “Just in time for this partnership, we are opening a retooled recycling plant with a fresh $5 million investment; and we’ll have more details about that facility in coming weeks.”

The city’s transition to Alpine services will be nearly seamless, Griffith says, adding that he expects residents will notice an instant improvement in the quality of service. The arrangement with Golden increases Alpine’s home-pickup operations by nearly 9 percent.

Alpine is the largest, privately held waste hauling company in Colorado, with the majority of its revenue coming from its commercial services.
